Complementary Services
As standard we will deliver and pick-up from all hotels and offices
in the CBD. We will deliver to all other locations, mileage calculated
from CBD to drop-off location. Airport collection and return is
available minimum charge NZ$50.00 inclusive of GST. Vehicles come
as standard with a CD changer, which if required will be provided
with a complete selection of music based on the individuals tastes.
Payment & Deposit
smartcars welcomes Visa, MasterCard, Diners
Club, JCB & American Express cards. We do not accept cash payments.
smartcars will retain a maximum of
two days rental as a non-refundable deposit on all confirmed rentals.
This will be deducted, up to a maximum of one month from the rental
commencement date.
Renter qualification
The minimum rental age is 25 years for all vehicle types. All intending
drivers must present a valid full New Zealand Driving Licence, which
has been held for at least one year or a current International Driving
Licence must accompany driving licences issued in a language other
than English. There is no extra charge for additional drivers. Minimum
rental age and other requirements for additional drivers will be
the same as for the renter. Additional authorised drivers must be
notified to smartcars and listed on the rental agreement at the
time of delivery.
Rate Periods
Rates are based on 24 hour period. Rates include our Standard smartcars
Vehicle Insurance and 100 free kilometres per 24 hours period, with
any additional mileage charged at the prevailing rate applied by
smartcars at the time. Petrol is not included in our rates.
Rental Period
All rates are based on a minimum rental period of one day [24-hours
from the time the rental starts]. Late return of the vehicle is
charged as follows, first 59 minutes free, then hourly charge of
1/3rd of the daily rate for the next three hours, there after a
full days rental will be charged.
Motor Vehicle Insurance
Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance including
third party and public liability, is included in our rates. The
standard excess is $4,000 inclusive of GST, this can be reduced
to $1,687 inclusive of GST by paying an additional fee of $75 (1
day) per day, $60 (2-3 days) per day or $45 (4+ days) all inclusive
of GST.
Fuel
Fuel is not included in our rates. Each vehicle is supplied with
a full tank of fuel, which is refilled at the renter's expense on
return. If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank, the renter
will be charged for the fuel required to refill the tank at the
prevailing rate applied by smartcars at the time.
GST
Applied by law to almost all sales within New Zealand [exceptions
include some financial arrangements and exports]. The current rate
is 12.5% - for a $100 item the total cost is $112.50.
Intercity (One Way) Rentals
Intercity [One way] rentals starting in Auckland and Queenstown
are available. Minimum rental periods and additional fees may apply.

Chauffeur Service
We provide a professional chauffeur facility to provide that extra
level of service for use with our larger saloons. Be it for Corporate
or sight seeing, we can provide a professional driver who understands
your special needs. Rates provided on application.
Terms and Conditions
All rentals are subject to the full Terms and Conditions which are
detailed in the smartcars Rental Agreement which will be provided
to you at the time of rental.
